The Opticians Association of Ohio (OAO) is a group of dedicated professionals who work to protect your license and advocate for YOU and other opticians at the state and national level. The mission of the OAO is to "enhance the quality and growth of opticianry.”  The OAO strives to ensure that your interests and professional standards are upheld across all levels of governance.

 

 

The OAO offers a range of professional development events to help opticians stay at the forefront of their field. One of the more popular events offered is the basic ABO review course, which is tailored to prepare apprentice opticians for the certification and exams with confidence.

 

Another popular event is the Apprentice Workshop, which is held many times throughout the year. This interactive workshop has limited seating and delivers personalized attention with hands-on experts, building skills and confidence.

 

 

OAO works closely with the Vision Professionals Board to ensure that all continuing education

(CE) hours meet the rigorous standards set by the American Board of Opticianry (ABO), the

National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE), and Ohio guidelines. This collaboration ensures that

our members receive the highest quality education and training, maintaining the excellence practice of opticianry in Ohio.
